Why Have An Engagement Photo Shoot?

Boom! You are engaged and you are super happy. And so you should be. Now what?! I mean come on the obligatory posting of the ring on social media has been done, the showing off to near and dear ones is complete but now…well now lets get the professional photos done.

A lot of photographers, like myself offer complimentary engagement photo shoots for all couple who book them for their wedding. An engagement photo shoot is an ideal way to also scope out the photographer you want. Get to know them. After all the wedding photos are going to be the most important ones of your life so you want the best from them.

Pick a place that means something to you. Make it special. Not just in the studio.

Think about what you want from your images? You are celebrating your engagement for sure, but also the coming together of two lives and worlds. Play around with ideas and concepts. Maybe try to infuse them together for your engagement photo shoot. From gaming to shabby chic, cars to running the possibilities are endless.

Dont forget your pets. One couple even brought along their pet goldfish along for a shoot. Him in his goldfish bowl was a nice addition to their engagement photo shoot.

Northampton has much parkland and historical buildings around it, so dont simply restrict yourself to a studio shoot. A lot of my engagement shoots happen outside of the studio. Its more relaxing and natural. It is a great way for us to get to know one another. If you are entrusting me to shoot your wedding day, the perfect ‘dry run’ for all of us is the engagement shoot.

Be sure to check out a photographers style. I am always happy to meet couples and discuss ideas.

Enjoy your session and really get to know what you do and dont like about the day.

Trust your gut.
