So if you follow me on instagram (@KhandiePhoto) you may have seen a little sneaky clip of me on my Instagram stories heading off to a little top secret location to shoot a recording session of a new jazz album. The location was super top secret so I will only say I was in London. The recording studio itself was mind blowing. Located underground, it was amazing. The owner was fabulous and the whole tech crew were lovely. I was hired by a super talented man to photo the recording session in a sort of ‘fly on the wall’ type of thing. These type of shoots are great for social media and promotion. Dont get me wrong, there are obvious limitations with shooting in these places such as time and space, but what an experience. I absolutely love providing these documentary style observations and therefore shall be sharing more of work of this type if you like.

I have been booked a few times now to shoot similar and often get bands booking to shoot them as they love the documentary photography as a way to record their creative processes and their fans LOVE IT!

The reason I think these images are so popular with the fans and musicians alike is because they show the process. They allow the viewer inside a somewhat secretive and personal world of the artist. This is stuff you dont get to see all too often and whilst a selfie is fine, this is not posed or staged. This is real talent working on their craft. The highs, the lows, the coffee breaks, the discussions and so much more.
