Its a wet Saturday and only the second day of the new year. I had a blast. An utter muddy blast. I spent it photographing the Cup rugby match between Bedford Queens and Coventry Welsh. Sports photography can be hard so it helps if you actually like the sports you are photographing. Thankfully I love rugby having been brought up around it much of my life. Not to mention catching games with England a few times.

The weather this Saturday as shocking. Miserable ever changing light. I mean constantly changing from bright to over cast to darker than a day in hell. Add a torrential downpour off and on every 20 minutes or so. Sports photography does not mean some cushy little warm studio. Nope, you have to get out in the rain and mud. In the mud and rain I went. Soaked and still smiling.

And then the rain came…and boy did it pour at times. Joy. I think next time I best invest in some decent footwear as whilst the players are ok sliding about on the pitch, me with expensive camera equipment is not ok.BvC-44 BvC-47

And that rain did not stop failing but the play carried on. Not seen quite so much mud. I nearly went down on my butt on more than one occasion. BvC-33 BvC-49BvC-40BvC-12
