If your child hates awkward school photos, forced smiles, or standing stiffly in front of a camera… honestly, I don’t blame them.
That’s exactly why I’ve launched my editorial kids and teen portrait sessions here at Khandie Photography Studio in Northampton.
These sessions are designed to feel more like a creative experience than a traditional photoshoot.
Think:
* magazine-inspired portraits
* personality-driven images
* dramatic lighting
* confidence-building direction
* and photos that actually feel like YOUR child
Not beige backdrops and awkward poses.
Kids & Teen Portrait Photography With Personality
Over the years, I’ve photographed everyone from creatives and musicians to fashion work connected with London Fashion Week and editorial-inspired portrait sessions. One thing I’ve noticed repeatedly?
Children and teenagers completely change when they feel comfortable in front of the camera. Particularly teens.
A good portrait session isn’t just about taking a nice photo. It can genuinely help young people:
* feel seen
* express themselves creatively
* build confidence
* celebrate individuality
* and step outside the pressure of looking “perfect”
That’s the energy these sessions are built around.
Perfect For:
These editorial portrait sessions are ideal for:
* aspiring young models
* dancers and performers
* stage school students
* sporty kids
* alternative teens
* creative children
* portfolio updates
* birthday experiences
* confidence-building experiences
* children who usually hate having photos taken
You absolutely do NOT need modelling experience.
Most of the children I photograph aren’t professional models at all.
Neurodivergent Children Are Welcome
Every child experiences cameras, noise, direction and new environments differently. That’s why my pre-session questionnaire includes space for parents to let me know anything that may help make the experience more comfortable for their child.
Whether that means:
* slower pacing
* quieter energy
* movement breaks
* sensory considerations
* comfort items
* or simply allowing more time to warm up
…the aim is always to create a relaxed environment where children can feel safe being themselves.
As a photographer, I’d much rather adapt a session around a child than expect a child to force themselves into a rigid photography experience.
Editorial Children’s Photography in Northamptonshire
The sessions take place at my Northampton photography studio and are intentionally limited to keep the experience relaxed and personalised.
Each session includes:
* a guided editorial-style shoot
* professional direction and posing help
* professionally edited images
* online image selection gallery
* optional gallery upgrades
These aren’t designed to be conveyor-belt mini sessions.
They’re designed to create images with personality, attitude and confidence.
